Ewoud Viane: At The Wunderwall Antwerp

Ewoud Viane (°1996, Izegem, Belgium, working and living in Ghent, Belgium) explores textiles, wooden panels and epoxy resin in sculpture and painting. Fascinated by the folds and shadow gradations of found colored fabrics, the artist strives to explore the potential of textiles as a medium beyond the artistic context of weaving and textile art and into the world of sculpture and painting. Recently, Viane has engaged in a series of botanical paintings - an homage to botanical illustrations. Soft pastels, gouache and cotton rope allow Ewoud Viane to pay homage to often unknown masters. He ingeniously depicts source material and lifts it to a contemporary and enigmatic form of still-life painting, all using his signature technique.

Ewoud Viane's recent exhibitions took place at Verduyn Gallery (2023), Pand 00X (2023), Degroof Petercam (Knokke, 2023) and Atelier Ecru Gallery (2022).
