The Wunderwall connects emerging artists with a wider audience. It is a platform for artists to present their work, but also a place for curious and young collectors who want to discover new talent and take their first steps into the art world.
The Wunderwall brings art closer to people and creates opportunities to discover artists and their work in different ways. The project unfolds across three interconnected platforms: a physical space, an online platform, and an annual group exhibition.
The Physical Space
At the heart of The Wunderwall is a display window located directly across from Gallery Sofie Van de Velde. Here, one artist at a time is given the opportunity to present their work for approximately six weeks.
Alongside the artist’s name and, where applicable, the title of the presentation, a QR code gives visitors direct access to more information about the artist, their practice, and the works on view.
The Wunderwall Online
The online platform extends the physical presentation and allows us to tell the story behind the work. Each artist is introduced through video, combining an interview with images of their work and, whenever possible, footage filmed in their studio.
Through The Wunderwall website and social media channels, visitors can discover not only the works themselves, but also the ideas, processes and personalities behind them.
The Wunderwall Enlarged
Once a year, The Wunderwall expands beyond its usual format. During Antwerp Art Weekend, the artists who have previously been presented at The Wunderwall come together in a group exhibition at Gallery Sofie Van de Velde NZ3.
The Wunderwall Enlarged brings the different individual presentations together in one exhibition, creating new connections between artists and their work and offering visitors the opportunity to discover the wider community that has grown around The Wunderwall.
Together, these three platforms make The Wunderwall a place for discovery — physically, digitally and through a shared exhibition — connecting emerging artists, new audiences and the next generation of collectors.
