Judith E. Geerts Dutch, b. 1989
Judith E. Geerts (NL, 1989) responds to regulations of architectural authority and examines new ways to activate and integrate her work into the exhibition space. Her installations refer to architectural systems and devices found in public space. By replicating, altering, and diverting the design of everyday objects, she produces structures that subvert and reflect upon their function. Geerts studied her BFA at Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam (2015), she obtained a sculpture degree at Cooper Union, New York (2014), and graduated her MFA with honors at LUCA, Brussels (2022). Recent exhibitions took place at Antwerp Art Weekend, Antwerp; Art Anderlecht, Brussels; Bruce High Quality Foundation, New York; Cc Strombeek, Grimbergen; Galerie EL, Welle; Het Van Gogh Huis, Zundert; Komplot X KIOSK, Ghent; M HKA, Antwerp; SBK Galerie, Amsterdam; Sharp Projects, Copenhagen. The work has been supported by Flanders State of Art; Hendrik Muller Fonds; Master Mind Scholarship; Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds; Stichting Niemeijer Fonds.
